Thatched building originally built in 1660 as a coaching house and still retaining many original features. Single bar establishment which is food led with tables set out for diners but there is a distinct area catering for customers just wanting a drink. Up to four real ales and Weston's Old Rosie cider are available. There is a car park and garden to the rear of the pub with a drinking area with tables at the front. Accommodation block at the rear. The John Barleycorn closed in July 2025. It reopened under new management on 4 December 2025. Accommodation will restart in March 2026. A children's play area will open around the same time.
