Pheasant24 Heydon Road
See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
The highest pub in Cambridgeshire may not be as grandiose a claim as for other counties but it still makes it a decent (and worthwhile) hike up to the Pheasant. The pub dates from 1634 and has a number of original features without succumbing to the "more olde than you" that some places aspire to. Dark exposed beams and white walls give its interior a classic rural pub feel. Its attractive split level rear patio is a stepping stone to a large garden which includes a children's play area as well as pétanque court. Sunday hours on Bank Holidays. Seasonal menus with locally sourced ingredients. Ruby (curry) Tuesdays. Pie Night Wednesdays. Fishy Fridays. Saturday breakfasts, 10:30-11:30. Bring your own Vinyl Monday evening. Since 2021 it has been run by the same people as at the Woodman Inn in nearby Nuthampstead. The Pheasant sponsors the Great Chishill Cycling Club.
