Pheasant24 Heydon Road
The highest pub in Cambridgeshire may not be as grandiose a claim as for other counties but it still makes it a decent (and worthwhile) hike up to the Pheasant. The pub dates from 1634 and has a number of original features without succumbing to the "more olde than you" that some places aspire to. Dark exposed beams and red walls give it an intimate and warm feel that is accentuated by a fire in winter. The house bitter is brewed by Nethergate, who also feature regularly among the guest ales. There is a large garden which includes a children's play area as well as petanque court.
