See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Sixteenth century, grade II listed, coaching inn with a front bar leading around the side to an extensive dining area at the back. A choice of comfortable seating areas can be found within the traditional green and cream decor. Prints of old village life, old clocks and stuffed animals add character. The dining room features a vaulted ceiling with exposed oak rafters. There is a walled garden to the rear. The house beer, Red & Black, is brewed for here and the sister pub (the Black Bull, Balsham) by Nethergate brewery. Woodforde's Wherry is a regular. The two guest beers are generally East Anglian. The menu is classic English country fare with award-winning puddings. As well as lunchtime and evening meals breakfasts are also served everyday.
