Friendly old inn occupying a thatched building which dates from the 18th century. The small single-bar interior has half-timbered end walls, a beamed ceiling and a big old fireplace. A collection of toby jugs hangs from the beams. Hearty home-made food has a strong reputation, especially the Sunday lunch. Low priced lunchtime specials available Wednesday and Thursday and regular themed food nights. Large garden with views to open countryside, amusements for children and a petanque pitch. Outdoor seating at the front as well as the garden. Sunday night quiz. The pub closed in late October 2016. It was subsequently purchased by Hare & Hounds (Harlton) Community Owned Pub Community Interest Company who refurbished it and appointed managers to run it. It reopened on 10th November 2017.
