Ancient Shepherds5 High Street
The buildings here date from 1540 and originally comprised three cottages. What you see today is essentially unchanged from the last alterations in 1954 - an attractive, multi-roomed, low-ceilinged pub/restaurant. The bar area at the front (known as "The Fold") is mainly for standing or perching. Two other rooms are mainly for dining and there's an attractive plant-filled glass-covered entrance-cum-corridor at the back. Food here has a strong reputation - see website for sample menus. This former Punch Taverns pub reopened, free of tie, on 1st June 2017 after a refurbishment. It now offers ales from regional brewers Woodforde's, Adnam's and Nene Valley. Longer term plans include B&B.
